David spent more than 20 years serving his community as a first responder, an experience that shaped his deep commitment to helping others. His career in policing provided him with invaluable insights into human resilience, stress, and the complex challenges people face. These experiences now inform his work as a counsellor, giving him a unique ability to support clients with empathy, clarity, and grounded understanding. While he offers a specialized focus for first responders and those in high-stress professions, David welcomes and supports individuals from all walks of life.
In 2021, David enrolled in Rhodes College’s Professional Counselling Program, a program that stood out to him for its experiential learning model. This approach emphasizes applying theory and knowledge not only with clients, but also within one’s own life and work. David found this deeply meaningful, believing that integrating these practices personally enhances his ability to guide others effectively.
David holds the belief that counsellors are at their best when they draw from both professional training and lived experience. His blend of frontline service, personal insight, and formal counselling education allows him to offer compassionate, practical, and impactful support to those seeking meaningful change.
